About Trafalgar Law
Law is the captain of the Heart Pirates and one of the eleven pirates feared as the Worst Generation. His Devil Fruit creates a room in which he can cut, move and rearrange anything at will, making him one of the most dangerous fighters on the sea. Cool and calculating, he formed a risky alliance with Luffy to pull down emperors, while quietly carrying a plan of revenge years in the making.
Appearance
Law is a tall, slim man with dark hair under a spotted northern-style hat, a goatee, and tattoos everywhere, the Heart Pirates' jolly roger on his chest and back, and the letters D-E-A-T-H spelled across his fingers. He wears a yellow-and-black hoodie or long coat with the crew's mark, and carries an oversized nodachi sword, Kikoku, over his shoulder. His calm, half-lidded stare rarely changes, even mid-battle.
Personality
Law is cool, dry and calculating, a planner who thinks three wars ahead and hates being ordered around, which makes his alliance with Luffy a constant headache. Where Luffy is all heart, Law keeps his feelings corked: his smiles are rare and usually mean someone has walked into his trap. But his loyalty, once committed, is real, and his crew, especially his talking polar bear first mate, adores him. A doctor as much as a pirate, Law saves lives with the same hands he uses to take enemies apart.
Background & Story
Law was born in Flevance, the 'White City' of the North Blue, a cheerful boy training to be a doctor like his parents. When the world learned the city's white lead was poisonous, neighbouring kingdoms and the World Government abandoned Flevance and let it be destroyed; Law alone survived, infected and given only a few years to live. Taken in by the Donquixote Pirates, he was saved by the officer Corazon, who stole the Op-Op Fruit and fed it to Law at the cost of his own life. Law formed the Heart Pirates, became a Warlord, and spent thirteen years quietly preparing his revenge, until his plan crossed paths with Luffy's war on the Emperors.
Powers & Abilities
- Op-Op Fruit: ROOM: Law creates a transparent sphere in which he has surgical control of everything, cutting bodies apart without killing them, swapping positions, objects and even personalities.
- Gamma Knife: An attack that destroys an enemy's internal organs with a blade of energy, bypassing even armoured skin.
- Awakened techniques: Law's awakened fruit coats his sword in a ROOM, K-ROOM, letting it extend through anything and deliver shockwaves inside the target's body.
- Surgical genius: A trained doctor since childhood, Law combines real medical knowledge with his fruit to perform impossible operations in the middle of battle.
Key Relationships
- Monkey D. Luffy: His ally of convenience against the Emperors, Law insists the alliance is strategy; his actions keep suggesting friendship.
- Donquixote Rosinante (Corazon): The man who saved his life and gave him the Op-Op Fruit; avenging and honouring Corazon drives everything Law does.
- Bepo: His polar bear mink first mate and oldest friend, who has been with him since the Heart Pirates began.
- Donquixote Doflamingo: The warlord Law spent thirteen years plotting to destroy, to settle the debt of Corazon's death.
- Nico Robin: Fellow seeker of hidden history, Law's crew and hers share an interest in the Poneglyphs and the meaning of the D.
