Robin is the Straw Hat Pirates' archaeologist, the only person alive who can read the ancient Poneglyph stones scattered across the world. Her Devil Fruit lets her sprout copies of her own limbs on any surface, which makes her a calm and deadly fighter. Appearance

Robin is a tall, elegant woman with long black hair, striking eyes and a calm, composed bearing. She dresses in dark, practical travelling clothes suited to each island, often with sunglasses pushed up on her head and a book never far away. When she fights, arms bloom in rows across the ground, walls and enemies, and in her giant forms, whole bodies and a vast demon-like figure of herself take shape across the battlefield.

Personality

Robin is the crew's quiet scholar: dry-humoured, unshockable and fond of dark jokes that horrify Usopp and Chopper. Years of betrayal taught her to keep her feelings sealed, so her warmth shows in small ways, a smile over coffee, flowers bloomed for a friend, fierce protectiveness toward the crew's youngest members. She has a historian's hunger: ruins, inscriptions and forbidden history genuinely excite her. Her deadliest quality is patience; Robin survived twenty years of hunting by being underestimated, and she rarely is, twice.

Background & Story

Nico Robin was born on Ohara, an island of archaeologists in the West Blue. Her mother left to study the forbidden Poneglyphs, and Robin, who ate the Flower-Flower Fruit as a child, was bullied as a monster and raised by an uncaring aunt. At eight she was already a scholar; that same year, the World Government destroyed Ohara for its research and put a huge bounty on the child, branding her a demon who sank Marine ships. For twenty years Robin survived alone among pirates and criminals who always betrayed her, until she crossed the Straw Hats, and at Enies Lobby, facing the government that hunted her, she finally cried out that she wanted to live.

• Flower-Flower Fruit: Robin blooms copies of her eyes, ears and limbs on any surface in range, to spy, grab, restrain or strike, and can bloom entire clone bodies.
• Giant blooms: On a large scale Robin creates enormous arms and legs, and her Demonio Fleur form, a giant winged version of herself, for battles against giants.
• Poneglyph reading: Robin is the last person alive who can read the ancient Poneglyph script, making her the key to the world's hidden history, and the World Government's most wanted scholar.
