Tengen is the Sound Hashira, a tall, flamboyant former shinobi who judges everything by how flashy it is. He fights with two huge cleavers joined by a chain, explosive beads and Sound Breathing derived from his ninja training. Loud and confident, he still puts his three wives and his young charges first, leading the Entertainment District mission from the front.

Appearance

Tengen is a very tall, powerfully built man who dresses like a festival: a jeweled headband, metallic bands on his arms, painted nails, an eye-catching marking around one eye and a sleeveless uniform that shows off his physique. His weapons match the showmanship, two enormous Nichirin cleavers joined at the hilts by a long chain, swung like nunchaku, with explosive beads packed into his kit. He poses, he sparkles, he announces himself as a god of festivals, and somehow the performance never slows his sword work for a second. With Tengen, the flash is not a distraction from the substance, it is the substance's delivery system.

Personality

Tengen is loud, vain, theatrical and completely sincere about all of it. Raised in a shinobi clan that treated children as disposable, nine siblings, seven dead in training, ordered to value missions over life itself, he walked away from that world and rebuilt his values from scratch: his wives first, the people he protects second, himself last. That inversion of his upbringing is the real Tengen under the glitter. He calls himself a god and demands worship as a joke, then calmly plans to die for rookies he met a week ago. His flamboyance is a man celebrating, at maximum volume, the fact that he gets to choose what his life is for.

Background & Story

Tengen was raised in a surviving shinobi clan whose training killed most of his eight siblings and whose father ordered the survivors to treat wives and comrades as tools. Tengen refused, left the clan with his three wives, kunoichi assigned to him who became his true family, and joined the Demon Slayer Corps, rising to Sound Hashira on the strength of his shinobi skills. When demons infest the Entertainment District, Tengen's wives go in undercover as scouts, and go silent. He recruits Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke, disastrously disguised, to find them. The mission becomes the flashiest battle of the young slayers' lives, and the night Tengen proves exactly what his priorities cost and buy.
