Megumi is a calm, serious sorcerer at Tokyo Jujutsu High who fights with the Ten Shadows Technique, summoning shikigami, from twin Divine Dogs to a giant serpent, from his own shadow. Where his classmate Yuji acts on heart, Megumi acts on logic, saving people by his own strict sense of fairness rather than any rulebook. Gojo sees enormous hidden potential in him, and the story keeps hinting he is right.

Appearance

Megumi is a slim teenager with spiky black hair that sticks up in every direction and dark blue-green eyes under a usually flat, unimpressed expression. He wears the standard dark Tokyo Jujutsu High uniform with a high collar. His shikigami are never far away: two large dogs, one white and one black, are the most common sight at his side, and his own shadow moves and ripples like something alive when he is about to fight. Compared with the loud personalities around him, Megumi's plain, still presence stands out, he looks like the calm centre of any room he is in.

Personality

Megumi is quiet, blunt and serious, preferring logic to speeches and action to comfort. He does not believe sorcerers save people because it is righteous, he saves people selfishly, by his own sense of who deserves saving, and he is honest about that selfishness. That honesty hides real kindness: he risks himself for good people without hesitation and carries guilt heavily when he cannot protect someone. He rarely shows emotion, which makes the rare moments, a small smile, a flash of fury, a reckless gamble, hit hard. Around Yuji and Nobara, his dry deadpan quietly becomes the trio's anchor.

Background & Story

Megumi was born into the Zenin clan, one of the great sorcerer families, as the inheritor of its prized Ten Shadows Technique. His father, Toji, left the clan and later left Megumi and his step-sister Tsumiki behind entirely. Before the Zenin clan could claim the boy, a teenage Satoru Gojo stepped in, struck a deal, and took Megumi under his protection instead. Megumi grew up guarded, distant and determined to protect Tsumiki, the one family member he trusts. By the time he enters Tokyo Jujutsu High he is already a grade 2 sorcerer with real field experience, the student sent to recover Sukuna's finger in Sendai, where a reckless boy named Yuji Itadori changed both of their lives in a single night.

• Ten Shadows Technique: Megumi's inherited technique lets him summon up to ten kinds of shikigami from shadows, once he has subdued each one in a ritual fight.
• Divine Dogs: His first and most loyal shikigami, a pair of huge wolf-like dogs with sharp senses that hunt and tear at curses.
