Juvia Lockser
From Fairy Tail
Juvia Lockser is a supporting character in Fairy Tail, a Water wizard whose body is made of water itself, a former member of Phantom Lord's elite Element 4 who joined Fairy Tail and fell completely for Gray Fullbuster. She is voiced by Mai Nakahara in Japanese and Brina Palencia in English.
About Juvia Lockser
A water wizard whose body is made of water itself, first met as a gloomy member of Phantom Lord's elite Element 4, forever followed by rain. Defeated and then welcomed by Fairy Tail, Juvia falls completely for Gray and joins the guild, trading her sorrow for sunshine. Her devotion is played for comedy, she speaks of herself in the third person and sees love rivals everywhere, but her power and courage are entirely serious.
Appearance
Juvia is a young woman with wavy blue hair and deep blue eyes, her look shifting from the gloomy elegance of her Phantom Lord days, dark dress, hat and umbrella, rain always falling around her, to brighter, softer outfits after joining Fairy Tail. She often wears a blue dress with white fur trim and a matching hat, and the blue Fairy Tail mark is on her left thigh. In battle her body literally becomes water, reforming around blades, and her magic fills whole streets with rivers and whirlpools.
Personality
Juvia speaks of herself in the third person and lives at emotional full volume: gloomy despair or radiant joy, nothing between. Raised under constant rain caused by her own uncontrolled magic, she grew up lonely and feared, until Gray, who was unimpressed by the rain and kinder than anyone had been, cleared her sky for the first time in her life. Her devotion to him is total, theatrical and, underneath the comedy, genuinely steadfast: Juvia's love is one of the most reliable forces in the guild, and her loyalty to Fairy Tail itself runs just as deep.
Background & Story
Juvia's water magic made rain follow her from childhood, and other children shunned the gloomy 'rain woman'. Phantom Lord, a powerful dark-leaning guild, valued what others feared: she rose into its Element 4, the elite team under Master Jose. When Phantom Lord attacked Fairy Tail, Juvia fought Gray Fullbuster, and lost twice over, first the battle, then her heart, when he treated her like a person and the rain stopped. After Phantom Lord fell she followed her new feelings to Fairy Tail, earning her place in the guild through the Battle of Fairy Tail and the Tenrou trial, and becoming one of its most dependable fighters.
Powers & Abilities
- Water: Juvia commands water in every form, whips, blades, domes, whirlpools and tidal waves shaped from any water nearby, or from her own body.
- Water Body: Her body is water: physical attacks pass through her harmlessly, and she can merge with bodies of water entirely.
- Water Lock: A sphere of water that traps an enemy and drowns the fight out of them, one of her signature finishers.
- Unison Raid: Combined magic cast with another wizard in perfect sync, she has achieved it with both Lucy and Gray, a feat considered near-impossible.
Key Relationships
- Gray Fullbuster: The love of her life, she says so constantly; his safety is her first thought in every battle, and her devotion slowly gets through to him.
- Lucy Heartfilia: A close friend and occasional imagined 'love rival', the two share one of the guild's warmest friendships and a rare combined spell.
- Gajeel Redfox: A fellow Phantom Lord defector; their shared past makes them comfortable, grumbling allies.
