Demiurge

About Demiurge

Demiurge is the demon guardian of Nazarick's seventh floor and its chief strategist, a polished gentleman whose mind runs ten moves ahead. He reads world-conquering genius into Ainz's every accident and designs the campaigns that make it true. Beneath the manners sits Nazarick's cruelest mind, running experiments no one outside the tomb should ever see.

Appearance

Demiurge appears as a tall, impeccably dressed man with dark hair, pointed ears, a silver tail and eyes like jewels behind round glasses, wearing a pinstriped suit with a gentleman's perfect manners. The tail and the occasional glimpse of his true demonic form, a frog-like, winged horror, are the only honest parts of the presentation. Everything else is tailoring, in every sense.

Personality

Demiurge is courteous, brilliant and the cruellest mind in Nazarick. He genuinely believes Ainz is a genius beyond his comprehension, and interprets every accident, improvisation and silence as layers of a master plan, then designs real campaigns to make those interpretations true. To the tomb he is a loyal colleague; to the outside world he is a smiling catastrophe, running experiments and operations whose victims he regards as livestock. His politeness never slips, which is the frightening part.

Background & Story

Demiurge was created by Ulbert Alain Odle, one of Ainz's guildmates, as the guardian of Nazarick's seventh floor and the tomb's defensive commander in a crisis. In the New World he became Ainz's chief strategist: the mind behind Nazarick's expansion plans, its intelligence operations and its most ruthless projects, including the demon 'Jaldabaoth' persona he performs to terrorise kingdoms on cue. Convinced that Ainz's plans span millennia, Demiurge works happily in the dark his master never actually asked for, and delivers results Ainz cannot bring himself to question too closely.

Powers & Abilities

• Strategic genius: Demiurge plans campaigns years deep, coordinating Nazarick's wars, politics and intelligence like a single chess game.
• Demon magic and command: As an arch-devil he wields powerful fire and summoning magic and commands Nazarick's demon forces.
• Jaldabaoth persona: Demiurge performs the role of the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth, letting Nazarick play villain and saviour in the same war.
• True form: His real shape is a monstrous winged demon; the gentleman is a costume he wears for his master's world.

Key Relationships

• Ainz Ooal Gown: His worshipped master, whose every word Demiurge over-interprets into grand strategy.
• Albedo: His fellow leader in Nazarick's administration; the two run the tomb's government between them.
• Sebas Tian: His opposite in every way, the butler's mercy and Demiurge's cruelty collide over a single human girl.
