Viscount Mueller

About Viscount Mueller

Viscount Mueller is a powerful nobleman of the Herz Kingdom in the other world and one of Sasaki's most important business partners. As the merchant Hermann, Sasaki supplies him with goods from Japan that look like miracles in a medieval world, and in return Mueller offers protection, status and political access. Their friendship is genuine, but Mueller's ambitions for his house and kingdom keep pulling Sasaki toward the centre of the kingdom's power struggles.

Appearance

Mueller is a large, imposing nobleman with the presence of a man used to command, dressed in the rich clothing of Herz aristocracy. His manner at the negotiating table is warm and expansive, the generosity of a lord who knows exactly what every favour is worth.

Personality

Mueller is ambitious, shrewd and genuinely warm toward those he counts as friends. His partnership with Hermann is real friendship and real politics at once: he protects Sasaki's business because it serves his house, and serves his house better because he truly likes the man. His ambitions for his family and kingdom keep pulling both of them toward the centre of power.

Background & Story

Viscount Mueller is a leading noble of the Herz Kingdom in the other world, and father of the knight Elsa. When the merchant Hermann appeared with goods no Herz craftsman could explain, modern Japanese products, Mueller became his patron: protection, status and political access in exchange for miracles on schedule. The arrangement prospered into a restaurant venture and a genuine alliance, and as the kingdom's power struggles sharpen, Mueller's friendship is both Sasaki's greatest asset in the other world and his surest route into danger.
