About Teppei Kiyoshi

Teppei Kiyoshi founded Seirin's basketball team and built it around one belief: basketball should be fun, and played together. A centre nicknamed the Iron Heart, he plays with a damaged knee that could end his career on any landing, and plays anyway, smiling, because this team is his dream. His post play, rebounding and 'Right of Postponement' reads hold Seirin's paint together, and his gentle stubbornness is the standard every Seirin player measures himself against.

Appearance

Kiyoshi is a broad, powerful 193 cm centre with messy brown hair, gentle eyes and an easy, slightly goofy smile that never matches his size. He wears Seirin's number 7 jersey. In the paint he is a wall, wide base, long arms, perfect positioning, yet his game is full of a playmaker's touches: no-look passes, soft finishes, fakes that send defenders the wrong way. The contrast defines him: the biggest body on Seirin belongs to its warmest heart, and opponents who expect a bruiser meet a point guard in a centre's frame.

Personality

Kiyoshi is cheerful, stubborn and quietly fearless about the thing that matters most to him: his teammates. He founded Seirin's club around a simple belief, basketball should be enjoyed together, and he protects that idea with an iron will, hence his nickname, one of the 'Uncrowned Kings' of his generation. He hides pain superbly; his injured knee, hurt protecting a teammate from a dirty play, is a secret he carries so the team will not worry. Kiyoshi's gentleness is not softness: it is a chosen strength, tested every game against the fear that any landing could be his last.

Background & Story

Kiyoshi was one of the most talented players of his generation, an Uncrowned King alongside players who now star for Rakuzan, and he used that talent to found a basketball club at brand-new Seirin High, recruiting Hyuga, Izuki and Riko. In a match against Kirisaki Daiichi, a team known for rough play, Kiyoshi badly injured his knee and spent a year in rehabilitation instead of on court. He returns in his second year to the team he built, now supercharged with Kuroko and Kagami, knowing his knee may not survive the season. His post play, passing and refusal to stop smiling in the paint hold Seirin together in its run at the Winter Cup.

Powers & Abilities

• Right of Postponement: Kiyoshi's huge hands let him hold the ball and delay his move until the defender commits, then pass, shoot or fake from an unstoppable position in the post.
• Centre's Playmaking: He handles and passes like a guard, running Seirin's offence from the high post and finding cutters that smaller centres never see.
• Rebounding and Post Defence: His size, positioning and timing make him Seirin's anchor on the boards and its last line against opposing big men.

Key Relationships

• Junpei Hyuga: The friend he dragged back into basketball and made his captain, the promise between them drives Seirin.
• Riko Aida: His coach, recruited by him at the club's founding; their mutual trust is total.
• Tetsuya Kuroko: The player whose team-first philosophy matches the club Kiyoshi built, Kuroko is proof his Seirin works.
• Atsushi Murasakibara: The giant Miracle centre whose lazy contempt for effort is everything Kiyoshi's basketball answers.
