About Ryota Kise
Ryota Kise is Kaijo High's small forward and the most approachable of the Generation of Miracles, a part-time model whose cheerful face hides a terrifying gift: he can copy any move he sees, and play it back stronger. A late starter who felt inferior to the other Miracles, Kise genuinely loves the game, which makes his Perfect Copy the first real wall Seirin must climb.
Appearance
Kise is 189 cm, athletic and effortlessly good-looking, with blond hair, long lashes and an easy smile that has made him a magazine model alongside basketball. He wears Kaijo's number 7 jersey. On court his style is a highlight reel that changes every possession, a drive copied from one player, a shot from another, all delivered with a performer's flair. But watch his eyes against strong opponents: the smile fades, and the copycat becomes a competitor who hates being looked down on more than anything in the world.
Personality
Kise is cheerful, sociable and far more driven than his breezy image suggests. He started basketball late, in his second year of middle school, and was instantly brilliant at it, yet among the Miracles he always felt like the weakest, the one chasing the others. That insecurity became fuel: Kise studies opponents obsessively and copies their moves not as a trick but as a way of climbing. He is friendly with Kuroko, respectful to his captain Kasamatsu, and genuinely loves basketball in a way some Miracles lost. When Kise plays at his limit, it is because he refuses to be the one left behind.
Background & Story
Kise was scouted into Teiko's team after picking up basketball almost on a whim, and his copying talent bloomed so fast he became a regular within weeks, and a member of the Generation of Miracles. At Kaijo High he is the ace of a strong, disciplined team. Seirin meets him first, in a practice match where Kise copies Kagami's moves on sight and dominates, until Kuroko and Kagami show him a basketball his copying cannot answer. That loss lights a fire: Kise trains to copy even the Miracles themselves, developing the Perfect Copy, and becomes the bridge between Seirin and the prodigies, the Miracle who never stopped respecting the game or his old teammate.
Powers & Abilities
- Copy: Kise can reproduce any move he has seen once, drives, shots, fakes, and because of his superior athletic base, his version often comes out stronger than the original.
- Perfect Copy: Kise's ultimate form: he copies even the Generation of Miracles' signature abilities, chaining their moves together for a few minutes at the cost of enormous strain on his body.
Key Relationships
- Tetsuya Kuroko: His old Teiko teammate, whom Kise openly admires, he adds '-cchi' to the names of people he respects, and Kuroko earned it.
- Yukio Kasamatsu: His captain at Kaijo, whose discipline and trust taught Kise what an ace owes his team.
- Taiga Kagami: The rival whose style he copied in their first meeting, and the player who first beat him.
- Daiki Aomine: The Miracle Kise has chased since Teiko; copying Aomine's formless game is his ultimate benchmark.
