About Momo Ayase
Momo Ayase is a bold high-school girl from a family of spirit mediums who believes in ghosts but laughs at aliens, until both prove her wrong in one night. Kidnapped by the Serpo aliens, she awakens powerful psychic abilities she controls with her hands. Fierce, loyal and quick-tempered, Momo protects her friends, her grandmother and one very unlucky occult nerd.
Appearance
Momo is a confident teenage girl with shoulder-length auburn hair, often worn loose or in a small side style, big expressive eyes and a gyaru-influenced look, loose socks, choker and earrings, that marks her out from her classmates. She is slightly taller than average and carries herself like someone entirely unbothered by other people's opinions. When she uses her psychic power, her hands glow with energy and enormous spectral hands, visible only to those who can see spirits, extend from her own, grabbing, throwing and shielding with a strength her slim arms could never produce.
Personality
Momo is bold, quick-tempered and fiercely loyal. She argues first and apologises later, but she always apologises, and she never, ever abandons someone in trouble. Raised on her grandmother's bluntness, she has no patience for bullies, cowards or supernatural threats, and treats ghosts and aliens with the same hands-on attitude. Under the temper she is perceptive about people: she sees Okarun's worth before he does, manages her friends' feelings mid-battle, and carries more responsibility than any teenager should. Her stubbornness is the group's engine, when Momo decides someone is family, the universe is expected to adjust.
Background & Story
Momo grew up in a family of spirit mediums, raised by her grandmother Seiko in a house protected by barriers and rules about the spirit world. She believed in ghosts completely and laughed at aliens, until a dare with her classmate Ken Takakura sent her to an abandoned hospital, where the Serpo aliens abducted her. The stress of the abduction awakened her latent psychic power: the ability to see auras and project giant spiritual hands. From that night, Momo becomes the supernatural's first responder for everyone around her, rescuing Okarun from his curse, facing down yokai and aliens in the same week, and slowly building a found family of the haunted, the cursed and the stranded at her grandmother's table.
