About Ken Takakura
Ken Takakura is a shy occult fanatic who believes in aliens but not ghosts. Momo nicknames him Okarun, his real name matches a famous actor she admires, so it must never be said. Cursed by Turbo Granny, he gains blinding speed at the cost of deep gloom. Timid but brave when it counts, Okarun fights to protect Momo above all.
Appearance
Ken, Okarun, is a slightly built teenager with messy dark hair, round glasses and the posture of a boy trying to take up less space. In his school uniform he looks like the class's easiest bullying target. Transformed by Turbo Granny's curse, he changes completely: his hair turns white and spikes upward, his face stretches into a sharp-toothed, mask-like grin, his body goes lean and clawed, and he moves in a low, animal crouch. Even his voice flattens into a cool, depressive monotone, the transformation swaps his anxiety for an eerie, exhausted calm.
Personality
Okarun is shy, awkward and apologetic, a boy bullied for years for his occult obsession, who expects rejection as the default. Underneath, he is brave in the specific way that matters: when Momo or his friends are in danger, the apologies stop. He is loyal to the point of self-sacrifice, earnest about everything, and funny without meaning to be. His transformed state inverts his personality into cool, gloomy detachment, 'depressed Okarun', but the protectiveness never changes. His growth is the story's warmest thread: a boy learning, friend by friend, that he is worth standing up for.
Background & Story
Ken Takakura is an occult-obsessed loner who believed in aliens and mocked the idea of ghosts, until a dare with Momo Ayase sent him into a haunted tunnel, where the yokai Turbo Granny cursed him and stole something precious from him: the golden balls that became the story's running quest. The curse also gave him Turbo Granny's power, transforming him into a being of blinding speed whenever he lets it loose. Nicknamed Okarun by Momo, his real name matches a famous actor she admires, so it must never be said, he goes from bullied loner to the Ayase household's front-line fighter, battling aliens and yokai to reclaim what he lost and protect the first friends he has ever had.
