Kakashi is the laid-back teacher of Team 7 and one of the Hidden Leaf Village's most respected ninja. Known as the Copy Ninja, he has copied over a thousand techniques with the Sharingan eye hidden under his headband. Behind the mask, the late arrivals and his favourite book series is a sharp, caring leader who teaches his students that looking out for your teammates matters more than any rule.

Appearance

Kakashi is a tall, lean man with spiky silver hair standing straight up, a mask covering the lower half of his face and his Leaf headband worn tilted to hide his left eye. Underneath, that eye holds a red Sharingan, revealed only in serious fights. He wears the standard Leaf jonin uniform with fingerless gloves, and is almost never seen without his orange romance novel, Make-Out Paradise, in hand, even in battle.

Personality

Kakashi is calm, dry-witted and chronically late, arriving with transparent excuses and a half-lidded smile. The act hides a precise, ruthless tactician and a man built by loss: nearly everyone he loved died young, and Kakashi visits the memorial stone every day. His teaching creed, those who abandon their comrades are worse than trash, is the lesson his own failure taught him. Students get the lazy, book-reading version; enemies get the ninja who was a jonin at thirteen.

Background & Story

Kakashi was a prodigy: son of the famed White Fang, Sakumo, who took his own life after being disgraced for saving comrades over a mission. The boy grew up cold and rule-bound, graduating at five and leading missions as a teen. On one mission his teammate Obito, dying under a boulder, gave Kakashi his Sharingan eye, and moments of loss kept coming: he could not save Rin, and his teacher Minato died soon after. Kakashi served years in the black-ops ANBU before the Third Hokage gave him a genin team to heal him: three students named Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura, whom he was determined not to fail.

Powers & Abilities

• Sharingan and the thousand copied jutsu: Kakashi's left eye, a gift from Obito, lets him read and copy almost any technique he sees, the source of his 'Copy Ninja' fame across every nation.
• Lightning Blade (Raikiri): His signature original technique: lightning chakra concentrated in his hand until it hums, a thrust said to have cut a lightning bolt, and his Mangekyo-era precision tool.
• Kamui: His Mangekyo Sharingan warps anything he looks at into another dimension, tearing holes in space, and in enemies, at range.
• Summoning: ninja hounds: Kakashi summons a pack of tracking ninja dogs, led by the tiny, gruff Pakkun, for scouting, pursuit and holding targets.
• Tactical genius: Few minds in the series match Kakashi's: he analyses techniques mid-fight and builds counters from scraps of information.
