Hinata Hyuga

About Hinata Hyuga

Hinata is a kind, shy ninja from the Hyuga clan, one of the Hidden Leaf's oldest families. She fights with the Gentle Fist style and sees chakra points through her Byakugan eyes. Though her clan expects greatness, Hinata struggles with confidence, and Naruto's refusal to ever give up slowly inspires her to believe in her own strength too.

Appearance

Hinata is a petite girl with long dark blue hair cut in a hime style, pale lavender eyes, the featureless white-lavender look of the Byakugan, and a soft, hesitant bearing. She wears a cream and lavender hooded jacket, later a flak-style outfit in purple tones, with her Leaf headband around her neck. In battle her eyes vein at the temples as the Byakugan awakens, and her stance turns precise and flowing.

Personality

Hinata is gentle, polite and painfully shy, she speaks softly, fidgets under attention and has a famous habit of fainting around Naruto, the boy she admires. But her kindness is a philosophy, not a weakness: Hinata refuses cruelty even from her own clan, and her courage, when it comes, is the purest in the series, she stands against opponents she cannot beat because someone she loves is watching, or in danger. Her growth is quiet: from a girl who could not meet anyone's eyes to a woman who charges a god to protect her person.

Background & Story

Hinata was born the eldest daughter of the Hyuga clan's main family, one of the Leaf's oldest and proudest houses, and a disappointment to it. Gentle where her father demanded a ruthless heir, she was effectively passed over for her younger sister, and her cousin Neji, of the branch family, hated her for the cage his own family lived in. Hinata trained on Team 8 under Kurenai, admired from afar the outcast Naruto, the one person who always got back up, and in the Chunin Exams chose, trembling, to face Neji himself rather than run. It was the first step of a long, quiet climb toward the person she wanted to be.

Powers & Abilities

• Byakugan: Hinata's bloodline eyes see nearly 360 degrees, through walls and inside bodies, she can watch a target's chakra network in perfect detail from far away.
• Gentle Fist: The Hyuga fighting style strikes chakra points directly, damaging internal organs and shutting down an enemy's ability to use jutsu, no surface strength can block it.
• Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists: Hinata shapes her chakra into roaring lion heads around her hands, draining the chakra of anything they touch.
• Protective Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms: A defensive technique of her own creation, weaving chakra into a dome of blades that guards her and her allies.

Key Relationships

• Naruto Uzumaki: The boy she admired from childhood for never giving up, his example built her courage, and her love for him is the series' longest quiet flame.
• Neji Hyuga: Her cousin from the branch family, who began by despising her and became her protector and teacher in spirit.
• Hiashi Hyuga: Her father, the clan head whose cold judgement she spent her life trying to overcome, and eventually earned.
• Kiba Inuzuka and Shino Aburame: Her Team 8 teammates, loud Kiba and quiet Shino are the brothers who always watched her back.
• Kurenai Yuhi: Her teacher, one of the few adults who saw Hinata's worth from the very beginning.
