About Vanessa Enoteca

Vanessa is a relaxed Black Bulls witch who loves drinking, lounging and teasing her squadmates, and fights with thread magic that can stitch, bind and guide attacks. She left the Forest of Witches to choose her own life. When she awakens the Red Thread of Fate, her little cat Rouge can rewrite outcomes themselves, turning certain defeat into another chance.

Appearance

Vanessa is a beautiful young woman of 170 cm with long, wavy pink hair and violet eyes, usually dressed in strikingly little, a dark two-piece outfit and her Black Bulls robe worn like an afterthought. She is rarely seen without a bottle of wine or a goblet, and her magic trails pink threads from her fingertips. Rouge, the small red cat born of her magic, perches on her head or shoulder once it appears. Her whole look says carefree; her magic, properly understood, is one of the most frightening in the kingdom.

Personality

Vanessa gives every impression of a woman whose main ambition is a good bottle and a long afternoon. Wine in hand, robe doing the bare minimum, dispensing big-sister advice to the whole squad whether they asked or not. Enjoy the show, but know where it comes from. She spent her childhood in a cage. The Witch Queen kept her locked up like an asset, waiting for her fate-weaving magic to ripen, and the day Yami smashed that cage on a whim Vanessa decided freedom was worth celebrating daily. Under the teasing there's a sharp mind and real nerve. And when her family is in danger, her magic stops being a parlour trick and starts rewriting destiny itself, because nobody is putting her people in a cage either.

Background & Story

Vanessa was born in the Forest of Witches, and the Witch Queen recognised her latent gift, thread magic that could one day touch fate, and locked the child in a cage to keep it. She stayed there until a lost, drunk Yami Sukehiro blundered into the forest, smashed her cage on a whim and told her to live as she pleased. Vanessa followed him out and into the Black Bulls, the first free choice of her life. She repaid the debt in the forest itself, when the squad came to rescue Asta's arms: facing the Queen at last, Vanessa's love for her family awakened Rouge, the Red Thread of Fate, and she told the most powerful witch alive that her fate belonged to herself.

Powers & Abilities

• Thread Magic: Vanessa weaves threads of magic to bind enemies, stitch wounds, move objects and people, and craft thread constructs mid-battle.
• Rouge, the Red Thread of Fate: Her familiar, a small red cat: when Rouge touches someone Vanessa cares for, any fate that would harm them is rewritten, attacks simply never land, outcomes undo themselves.
• Healing threads: Fine stitch-work magic that closes wounds and reattaches what battle tears, the squad's quiet insurance policy.

Key Relationships

• Yami Sukehiro: The man who freed her from her cage and gave her a home, her loyalty to him is the foundation of her life.
• Asta: A little brother of the squad; it was to save his arms that she finally faced the Witch Queen and awakened her true power.
• Noelle Silva: A fellow squad 'sister', Vanessa delights in teasing the royal girl about her feelings and backs her in every fight.
