Finral Roulacase

About Finral Roulacase

Finral is the Black Bulls' spatial mage, the squad's ride home whose portals move everyone between missions in an instant. A cheerful flirt from the noble Vaude family, he spent years in his talented younger brother's shadow and avoided fighting altogether. His growth is about courage: learning to use his magic offensively and stand his ground beside the squad he loves.

Appearance

Finral is a slim young man with messy light-brown hair and gentle green eyes, usually smiling the smile of a man trying to keep a room friendly. He wears his Black Bulls robe over a light tunic and carries himself more like a butler than a brawler, appropriate, since his actual job in most battles is opening the portal everyone else charges through. His spatial magic appears as swirling rings of light that swallow people and reappear them elsewhere in a blink.

Personality

Finral would like it noted that he is not a coward. He is a realist who happens to scream a lot. He runs from fights he can't win, complains the entire time he's running, and then turns around and walks back in, because his friends are still in there and his portals are their only way out. That pattern is basically his whole character. At home, House Vaude wrote him off: his little brother Langris got the family's flashy attack magic, while Finral got the 'servant's trick' of moving people around. It takes him most of the series to say the obvious out loud. Without the man opening the doors, the strongest fighters in the squad never reach the fight at all.

Background & Story

Finral was born into House Vaude, a noble family famed for spatial magic, and was politely discarded when his magic proved purely transportational while his little brother Langris manifested the offensive genius the family worshipped. Finral drifted into the Black Bulls, where nobody cared that his magic could not kill, they needed rides, rescues and battlefield repositioning, and he became quietly indispensable. His story knots around his brother: Langris's cruelty, the brothers' arranged-engagement tangle with Finral's kind-hearted fiancée Finesse, and the Royal Knights exam, where Finral finally stood in front of his brother's attack to shield a teammate and understood what his magic was for.

Powers & Abilities

• Spatial Magic (transport): Finral opens portals between places he has marked with his mana, instant transport for people and objects across battlefields and kingdoms.
• Fallen Angel's Wingbeat: His one offensive technique, learned late: a spatial strike that erases what it touches, proof his 'servant's magic' was never weak, only aimed differently.

Key Relationships

• Yami Sukehiro: His captain and chauffeur-by-command; Yami's rough trust treats Finral's portals as the squad's lifeline, because they are.
• Asta: The junior he ferries everywhere, and whose refusal to accept 'useless' magic helped Finral rethink his own.
