Tenga Onigawara

Quick Answer

Tenga Onigawara is a supporting character in Mob Psycho 100, Salt Middle School's top delinquent, a pompadoured tough guy whose reputation is wrecked by a crime he did not commit and who clears his name with the Body Improvement Club's help. He is voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya in Japanese.

About Tenga Onigawara

Tenga Onigawara is Salt Middle School's top delinquent, a pompadoured tough guy whose reputation takes a beating when a rumour blames him for a rival school's rampage. Proud and quick-tempered but honourable, he clears his name with the Body Improvement Club's help and becomes an unlikely ally. His soft spot for the Telepathy Club's Inugawa is one of the series' running gags.

Appearance

Onigawara is a stocky delinquent with a tall pompadour, a scowling face and the standard tough-guy uniform modifications of a school banchō. He looks like a manga thug from an earlier decade, which is the point, and his expressions run an entertaining range from outrage to wounded pride to unexpected sheepishness. Next to the Body Improvement Club's giants he is suddenly not the biggest person in any room, a fact his posture never quite adjusts to.

Personality

Onigawara is proud, loud and honour-obsessed in the classic delinquent mould, but the honour is real. He will not take credit or blame that is not his, he protects weaker students he has decided are under his wing, and his fury at being framed is about reputation in the truest sense: a name he built and refuses to see dirtied by someone else's fight.

Background & Story

Onigawara rules Salt Middle School's delinquent scene until a beating delivered to a rival school is pinned on him, destroying his reputation through no fault of his own. Hunting the real culprit pulls him into the Body Improvement Club's orbit, the same club protecting Mob, and pride forces him to swallow his ego and work with them to clear his name. The experience, and his soft-hearted concern for a frail clubmate, quietly retires the banchō act.
