Shizuka Nanahoshi

About Shizuka Nanahoshi

Nanahoshi is a Japanese schoolgirl summoned to this world, not reborn, who cannot use its magic and does not age. Working under the name Silent Sevenstar at the university, she researches a way home with single-minded focus. Her cold practicality clashes with Rudeus, who chose the life she is desperate to escape, making her his mirror image.

Appearance

Nanahoshi is a Japanese teenage girl with long black hair and a perpetually unimpressed expression, usually in the uniform of Ranoa Magic University's special students or simple research clothes. She looks entirely ordinary, which, in this world, is her defining abnormality: she has not aged a day since arriving, and her body rejects the world's food, magic and air in small, accumulating ways.

Personality

Nanahoshi is cold, practical and single-minded. Summoned against her will in the same event that haunts Rudeus's life, she wants exactly one thing, to go home, and organises her entire existence around researching the way. Where Rudeus chose this world, Nanahoshi endures it, and their clashes are mirror arguments: each sees in the other the road not taken. Under the frost she is a frightened schoolgirl far from home, and the story never lets her pragmatism fully hide it.

Background & Story

Shizuka Nanahoshi was a Japanese high school student caught in the same incident that ended Rudeus's first life, but where he died and was reborn, she was summoned bodily into this world, unaging and unable to use its magic. Taken up by the Dragon God Orsted and working under the name Silent Sevenstar at Ranoa Magic University, she researches summoning magic to find a way home, selling otherworld goods and knowledge to fund her work. Her path crosses Rudeus's at the university, where the reborn man and the summoned girl recognise what they are to each other at once.

Powers & Abilities

• Summoning research: Nanahoshi is the world's leading researcher on summoning circles, working to construct a way back to Japan.
• Otherworld knowledge trade: She funds her research by introducing Japanese goods and ideas through merchant partners.

Key Relationships

• Rudeus Greyrat: Her mirror image, the other person from her world, who chose the life she is desperate to escape.
• Orsted: The Dragon God who sheltered her after her summoning and supports her research for his own reasons.
