Ruijerd Superdia

About Ruijerd Superdia

Ruijerd is a warrior of the feared Superd tribe, a demon race cursed by the god Laplace's spear and blamed for atrocities for 400 years. He escorts Rudeus and Eris across the Demon Continent as the adventurer party Dead End, protecting children above all else. His quiet honour slowly restores both his people's name and his own.

Appearance

Ruijerd is a tall, stern warrior with green hair, red eyes and a third-eye gem in his forehead, the marks of the Superd tribe that make ordinary people flee at the sight of him. He carries a white trident spear and wears the worn gear of a man who has wandered for centuries. Children, unusually, are not afraid of him for long: Ruijerd's terrifying face softens completely around them, and his whole bearing changes.

Personality

Ruijerd is honourable, gentle with children and merciless to those who harm them, his entire moral code fits in that sentence. The Superd were tricked by the god Laplace into atrocities during the great war 400 years ago, and Ruijerd has spent the centuries since wandering in exile, doing good deeds to restore his people's name and waiting for someone to believe him. Rudeus is the first person in living memory who does. Ruijerd's quiet dignity under universal hatred is one of the series' most affecting threads.

Background & Story

Ruijerd was a Superd warrior who fought in Laplace's war 400 years ago, when the demon god's cursed spears drove the Superd into a frenzy that made their name a byword for evil. Ashamed and exiled, Ruijerd cut his hair, the Superd's pride, and wandered the world protecting children and seeking redemption for his people. After the Teleport Incident he finds two children alone on the Demon Continent, Rudeus and Eris, and becomes their escort and guardian as the adventurer party Dead End, beginning the long journey that slowly restores both his people's name and his own.

Powers & Abilities

• Superd warrior skills: Ruijerd's 400 years of combat experience and superhuman physique make him a match for the strongest warriors alive.
