Eris Boreas Greyrat

About Eris Boreas Greyrat

Eris is the fiery young heiress of the Boreas Greyrat family, a violent, proud girl who becomes Rudeus's magic student and slowly his sword partner. Taming her temper takes years of travel and loss, and she leaves to train herself into someone worthy of standing beside him. Her return, blade first, is one of the series' great promises.

Appearance

Eris is a striking girl with long, vivid red hair and red eyes, built athletic and strong from sword training that began in childhood. She favours practical clothes and a sword over noble dresses, moves like a fighter even at dinner, and her expressions run at full volume, boredom, fury and joy all arrive instantly. As she grows she becomes a tall, powerful swordswoman whose presence fills a room before she says a word.

Personality

Eris is proud, violent-tempered and honest to the bone. Raised rich and indulged, her first answer to frustration was her fists, and taming that temper takes years of travel, loss and discipline. Underneath it is fierce loyalty and a simple, demanding code: Eris wants to be worthy of the people she loves, and when she judges herself unworthy of standing beside Rudeus, she leaves to train until she is, a decision as loving as it is painful. She says what she thinks, hits what she hates and never, ever lies about either.

Background & Story

Eris is the granddaughter of Sauros Boreas Greyrat, lord of the fortress city of Roa in the Asura Kingdom, and the terror of its tutors, until the family hires a young mage named Rudeus, the first teacher she cannot simply beat up and discard. Under Rudeus and the Sword King Ghislaine she begins real growth in magic, manners and swordsmanship. Then the Teleport Incident throws Eris and Rudeus alone onto the Demon Continent, and the spoiled heiress has to become a real adventurer to survive the journey home.

Powers & Abilities

• Sword God style swordsmanship: Eris trains in the Sword God style, the fastest and most aggressive of the three sword schools, rising to advanced rank as a teenager.
• Combat instincts: Her reflexes, aggression and battlefield intuition are exceptional even among trained knights.
• Basic magic and languages: Tutored by Rudeus and Ghislaine, she gains practical magic, reading and the Demon-God language for their travels.

Key Relationships

• Rudeus Greyrat: Her tutor, travel companion and the person she measures herself against, her feelings for him drive her greatest decision.
• Ghislaine Dedoldia: Her sword teacher and bodyguard, the Sword King who first channelled Eris's violence into skill.
• Ruijerd Superdia: Her escort across the Demon Continent in Dead End, whose honour taught her what a warrior is.
