Roxy Migurdia

About Roxy Migurdia

Roxy is a demon mage of the Migurd tribe who becomes young Rudeus's first magic teacher, curing his fear of the outside world almost by accident. Small, serious and far older than she looks, she wanders the world as an adventurer and researcher. To Rudeus she is teacher, first love and something close to a goddess.

Appearance

Roxy is a petite young-looking woman with long blue hair worn in braids or loose, blue eyes and the pointed features of the Migurd demon tribe, usually in a mage's robe and hat with a staff. Her small size and youthful face make strangers treat her as a child, to her lasting irritation: Roxy is over fifty years old for much of the story, a veteran adventurer whose competence commands rooms once she starts casting.

Personality

Roxy is serious, diligent and quietly insecure. A Migurd born without her people's telepathy, she grew up feeling like a defective member of her own tribe and left to prove herself in the human world, where she became a genuinely excellent mage and teacher. She is earnest about work, hopeless about romance, and prone to small vanities she immediately regrets. To her student Rudeus she is a goddess; Roxy herself would be mortified, and a little pleased, to know it.

Background & Story

Roxy Migurdia was born in a Migurd village on the Demon Continent, unable to use her tribe's telepathy, a disability that isolated her until she ran away to see the world. She trained at Ranoa Magic University, became a Water King-tier mage and a wandering tutor, and took a job teaching the infant son of a village knight in Buena. Her student turned out to be a silent-casting prodigy who feared leaving his garden; Roxy's graduation gift to him, taking him outside on horseback, cured both his fear and, in his memory, made her a legend.

Powers & Abilities

• Water King-tier magic: Roxy is a King-class water mage whose power and control place her among the continent's respected combat mages.
• Chanted casting mastery: Unlike Rudeus she casts with incantations, but her shortened chanting and spell knowledge are elite.
• Teaching and research: Roxy is a gifted magic theorist and tutor whose students include royalty, and Rudeus Greyrat.

Key Relationships

• Rudeus Greyrat: Her first famous student, whose reverence for her she slowly learns about, and whose life she keeps re-entering at key moments.
• Paul Greyrat: Her former employer in Buena Village, who later draws her into the search for the Teleport Incident's victims.
• Elinalise Dragonroad: Her travelling companion in the search party, whose experience balances Roxy's earnestness.
