Shampoo

About Shampoo

Shampoo is a warrior of the Chinese Amazons who first came to Japan to kill Ranma's female form, then, upon discovering his male form, to marry him instead, as her village's law demands. A Jusenkyo curse turns her into a cat, Ranma's greatest fear. Cheerful, ruthless and utterly single-minded, she runs a ramen shop near the Tendo dojo and never stops scheming to win.

Appearance

Shampoo is a pretty teenager with long purple hair worn in two loops with bells, and a Chinese-style outfit suited to fighting and delivering ramen. As a cat she is small and white with the same hair loops, to Ranma's horror.

Personality

Shampoo is cheerful, direct and completely single-minded: when she wants something, usually Ranma, obstacles are simply removed. She is sweet one moment and ruthless the next, speaks in broken Japanese and treats Akane as her chief rival in open romantic warfare.

Background & Story

Shampoo is a champion of Joketsuzoku, the Chinese Amazon village. When Ranma's female form defeated her at a village tournament, Amazon law demanded she give the kiss of death and hunt her down; when she found Ranma's male form had also beaten her, the same law demanded marriage instead. In Japan she runs the Cat Café ramen shop with her great-grandmother Cologne, delivering noodles by bicycle, usually through walls, while pursuing Ranma.

Powers & Abilities

• Amazon martial arts: Shampoo is a champion fighter of Joketsuzoku, skilled with bonbori maces and Amazon techniques.
• Jusenkyo curse form (cat): Cold water turns Shampoo into a small cat; hot water restores her.

Key Relationships

• Ranma Saotome: Her intended husband by Amazon law, pursued with total determination.
• Cologne: Her great-grandmother and elder, who guides her campaign from the Cat Café.
• Mousse: Her childhood admirer from the village, whose devotion she mostly ignores.
• Akane Tendo: Her main rival for Ranma, treated as an obstacle to be out-schemed.
