Kasumi Tendo

About Kasumi Tendo

Kasumi Tendo is the eldest of the three Tendo sisters and the calm centre of the household, running the home with gentle efficiency while battles rage around her. Nothing fazes her: not panda fathers, not cursed fiancés, not Happosai. Her serene 'oh my' has ended more conflicts than any martial art in the series, and her kindness to Ranma gives him a glimpse of ordinary family warmth.

Appearance

Kasumi is a young woman with long brown hair worn in a low ponytail, a soft smile and an apron over neat house clothes. She is almost always carrying a tray, a laundry basket or a meal.

Personality

Kasumi is kind, serene and quietly observant. She took over running the home as a teenager and treats cursed fiancés, panda fathers and explosions as ordinary housekeeping. Her gentle 'oh my' ends more conflicts than any technique in the series.

Background & Story

Kasumi became the Tendo household's mother figure after her mother's death, cooking, cleaning and caring for her father and sisters. When the Saotomes move in, she absorbs two more people, one of them a part-time panda, without a ripple. Everyone in Nerima respects Kasumi; even Happosai behaves slightly better around her, and Ranma gets from her a glimpse of the ordinary family warmth his upbringing never had.

Key Relationships

• Akane Tendo: Her youngest sister, whose temper Kasumi soothes as a matter of routine.
• Nabiki Tendo: Her middle sister, whose schemes Kasumi observes with mild amusement.
• Soun Tendo: Her father, gently managed like everyone else in the house.
