Mirio Togata

Mirio Togata

From My Hero Academia

Quick Answer

Mirio Togata, the hero Lemillion, is a supporting character in My Hero Academia, one of U.A.'s Big Three third-years whose Permeation Quirk lets him pass through anything, and who was once considered a candidate to succeed All Might. He is voiced by Tarusuke Shingaki in Japanese and Ricco Fajardo in English.

About Mirio Togata

Mirio Togata is one of U.A.'s Big Three, the school's top third-year students, and fights as the hero Lemillion. His Permeation Quirk lets him pass through anything, which took years of brutal training to control without hurting himself. Cheerful, selfless and endlessly encouraging, he was once considered the natural successor to All Might himself.

Appearance

Mirio is tall and very muscular, with blond hair swept up in a tuft, simple oval blue eyes and a wide, beaming face that makes him look like a hero from an old comic book. His hero costume is a white suit with a green cape and the number 1,000,000 printed across his chest in yellow, his hero name Lemillion, for the million people he wants to save. The suit is woven with fibres of his own hair so it permeates with him instead of falling off.

Personality

Mirio is relentlessly cheerful, goofy and kind, the first to crack a joke, pose for effect or encourage a nervous junior. That sunshine is backed by ferocious discipline: he spent years mastering one of the most dangerous-to-use Quirks at U.A. through training that left him repeatedly injured and humiliated. He thinks like a veteran in combat, predicting opponents several moves ahead, and his selflessness is absolute. When protecting a child costs him everything he has built, he does not hesitate for a second, and refuses to call it a loss.

Background & Story

Mirio entered U.A. with a Quirk everyone considered a liability: Permeation lets everything pass through him, including the ground, air and light, so early attempts left him naked, falling and blind. Through years of relentless work under the pro hero Sir Nighteye's internship he turned it into one of the most formidable abilities in the school, rising into the Big Three alongside his two closest classmates. Sir Nighteye believed Mirio, not Izuku, should have inherited One For All, and Mirio's skill nearly proves the point. As a work-study student he joins the raid on the Shie Hassaikai, where his determination to rescue one small girl defines exactly what kind of hero he is.

Powers & Abilities

  • Permeation: Mirio's Quirk makes his body intangible so matter, light and air pass through him; deactivating it while inside solid objects launches him out at high speed.
  • Phantom Menace: Mirio chains rapid warp-like strikes by sinking into surfaces and ejecting himself at opponents from blind spots in quick succession.
  • Predictive Combat: Years of training give Mirio an expert read on opponents, letting him counter fighters whose Quirks he has only just seen.

Key Relationships

  • Izuku Midoriya: A junior Mirio mentors and befriends; the two share the raid that defines them both, and Mirio never resents the succession he missed.
  • All Might: The hero whose successor Mirio was widely expected to become, a comparison he handles with total grace.
