Gabiru

About Gabiru

Gabiru is a proud lizardman warrior whose ego once led him to seize his father's throne at the worst possible moment. Humbled in defeat, he remakes himself through work: leading Tempest's researchers, cultivating healing herbs and training until his skill nearly matches his confidence. His growth from comic relief to genuine hero is one of Tempest's best stories.

Appearance

Gabiru is a green-scaled lizardman with a long tail, sharp teeth and an expressive, mobile face that broadcasts every emotion, pride, panic and joy in quick rotation. After joining Tempest and evolving, he gains a more humanoid, dragonewt form. He is rarely seen without his spear, and rarely stands still: Gabiru talks with his whole body, especially when an audience is available.

Personality

Gabiru is vain, loud and hungry for praise, and, underneath it, genuinely brave and hardworking. His early arrogance, fed by flatterers, led him to seize his father's throne at the worst possible moment and nearly doom his people. Defeat humbled him without breaking him: exiled and taken in by Tempest, he rebuilt himself through unglamorous work, cultivating healing herbs and training relentlessly until his skill began to deserve his confidence.

Background & Story

Gabiru is the son of the lizardman chieftain Abiru and heir to the marshland tribe allied with Rimuru against the orc invasion. Manipulated by a demon's flattery, he deposed his father and led his warriors into disaster, and was exiled for it. Rimuru gave the homeless prince work in Tempest's research caves growing hipokute herbs, and Gabiru, to everyone's surprise, including his own, worked, studied and trained until he became a respected researcher and one of Tempest's aerial commanders.
