Hakurou

About Hakurou

Hakurou is the elderly ogre swordsman who trained the ogre village's fighters and now teaches swordsmanship in Tempest. Despite his age he moves faster than young warriors can follow, and his politeness never slips, even mid-duel. Generations of Tempest's fighters, including Rimuru himself, owe their technique to this smiling old master.

Appearance

Hakurou is an elderly kijin with white hair worn long, a neat white beard and three small horns, dressed in simple traditional training clothes with a katana always at his side. Naming did not make him look young again, it made him look like a grandfather who has simply never stopped being faster than you. His polite bow and gentle smile have preceded a great many very short duels.

Personality

Hakurou is courteous, patient and quietly mischievous. Centuries of swordsmanship have burned away all wasted motion, in speech as in fighting: he praises sincerely, corrects kindly and enjoys the moment a student's confidence outruns their skill. Age has not softened his standards. He serves Tempest as an instructor because he believes strength exists to be passed on, and he takes genuine pride in every fighter who survives his lessons.

Background & Story

Hakurou served the ogre village as its sword instructor for generations, training Benimaru and the village's warriors. He was one of the six survivors of its destruction, following his prince into Rimuru's service, where naming evolved him into a kijin and restored much of his youthful speed. In Tempest he became the nation's swordsmanship teacher, his students include Rimuru himself, and a veteran officer whose calm judgement steadies the younger kijin commanders.

Powers & Abilities

• Master swordsmanship: One of the finest swordsmen in Tempest, Hakurou's speed and technique overwhelm fighters a fraction of his age.

• Heightened senses: His experience and perception let him read attacks and intentions with almost supernatural accuracy.

• Rimuru Tempest: Both his lord and his sword student, a combination Hakurou treats with perfect, amused respect.
• Shuna: The princess of his old village, whose survival and success in Tempest he quietly celebrates.
