About Shion

Shion is Rimuru's devoted ogre secretary, bodyguard and worst cook. Evolved into a kijin, she combines terrifying strength with total, cheerful loyalty, carrying her huge sword everywhere her master goes. Her cooking is a weapon in itself, though only Rimuru can survive it. Beneath the comedy, her faith in Rimuru is absolute and deeply earned.

Appearance

Shion is a tall, striking kijin with long violet hair, purple eyes and a single black horn in the centre of her forehead. She wears a sharp black business-style suit as Rimuru's secretary, and carries an enormous odachi, Gorimaru, that she swings with casual, building-shaking ease. Her professional look is constantly undermined by her beaming, puppy-like devotion whenever Rimuru is nearby.

Personality

Shion is cheerful, devoted and completely fearless, including in the kitchen, which is the problem. Her loyalty to Rimuru is absolute and emotional: he saved and named her people, and she repays it with every fibre of her being. She is proud, competitive with Shuna for the secretary role, and simple-hearted in the best way. In battle the sweetness vanishes; Shion is one of Tempest's most violent front-line fighters, and enemies who hurt her master get no mercy.

Background & Story

Shion was one of the six ogres who survived the destruction of their village and followed Benimaru to Rimuru's settlement. Named and evolved into a kijin, she appointed herself Rimuru's secretary and bodyguard and has guarded the role jealously ever since. During the Kingdom of Falmuth's attack on Tempest, Shion was among those killed defending the town, and among those Rimuru's Demon Lord evolution brought back, deepening a devotion that was already total.

• Cook (dangerous): Her unique 'Cook' skill guarantees the result she imagines rather than the recipe's, which is why her dishes, whatever they look like, somehow work on Rimuru.
