Denki Kaminari is Class 1-A's joker, whose Electrification Quirk covers his body in lightning he can discharge in huge bursts. Push the power too far, though, and his brain short-circuits into a giggling thumbs-up. Friendly, flirty and a little careless, he is the classmate who keeps everyone's spirits up when things get dark.

Appearance

Kaminari has spiky blond hair with a distinctive black lightning-bolt streak on the left side, and golden eyes. He is lean and average height, usually grinning. His hero costume is a black jacket with white lightning patterns, black trousers and a communication earpiece, later upgraded with a pointer-and-shooter system that lets him aim his electricity at discs he throws onto targets. In casual clothes he favours streetwear and an easy, slouching posture.

Personality

Kaminari is the class clown: friendly, flirty, a bit vain and always ready with a joke or a disastrous attempt to impress girls. He is often treated, and treats himself, as comic relief, and his grades and battle results early on back that up. But he is genuinely loyal and braver than his image: when a friend is in danger he charges in knowing exactly what the cost will be. His growth is about becoming reliable without losing the lightness his classmates depend on in dark moments.

Kaminari entered U.A. with a flashy Quirk and little control over it: Electrification covers his body in lightning he can discharge in massive indiscriminate bursts, but exceeding his wattage limit fries his brain, leaving him giggling with both thumbs up. In Class 1-A he finds his crowd quickly, bonding with Kirishima and Bakugo's orbit and serving as the class's mood-maker. Battle after battle exposes his limits, enemies who insulate, teammates caught in his blast radius, and pushes him to add support gear and targeted techniques. His standout moment comes when he absorbs an enemy's full electrical assault to protect everyone behind him, proof that the joker can be the wall when it counts.
