Zod Exarion

About Zod Exarion

Zod Exarion is the master of the Magic Tower and one of the most powerful mages alive, a living legend whose name every academy student knows. In Desir's first life he stood near the centre of humanity's last stand against the Shadow Worlds. In this timeline he watches the academy's unusual commoner student with growing interest, because Desir's tactics remind him of a war that, for everyone except Desir, has not happened yet.

Appearance

Zod is a tall, imposing older man with long hair, a trimmed beard and the stillness of someone who has not needed to prove anything in decades. He dresses with the formality his office demands, and rooms tend to organise themselves around him when he enters. Nothing about him is flashy. That is the point. When the master of the Magic Tower pays attention to something, everyone else in the room starts paying attention too, usually a moment too late.

Personality

Zod is measured, curious and quietly playful for a man of his power. He enjoys being underestimated by people who only see an old administrator, right up until they need his help. His real passion is magic itself and the people clever enough to push it further, which is why a Beta class student whose tactics feel a generation ahead of his teachers catches his interest. He watches Desir the way a chess master watches a stranger play a variation only one other person alive should know. Because Zod taught himself that variation, in a war that has not happened yet.

Background & Story

Zod Exarion built his legend over a lifetime and now runs the Magic Tower, the institution at the top of the magical world, advising emperors and setting the standard every academy teaches toward. In Desir's first life, when the Shadow Worlds came, Zod was one of the pillars of humanity's defence, and Desir fought in the same long war and learned from the same desperate years. None of that has happened yet. In this timeline Zod is simply the great mage who keeps hearing reports about an academy commoner whose spell analysis and tactics do not match his age, his circle, or any sane explanation. So he does what curious legends do. He arranges to meet the boy, and he watches.

Powers & Abilities

• Archmage-Class Magic: Zod sits at the very top of the magical world, with power and mastery that academy teachers and war mages alike treat as the ceiling.
• Magic Theory: Running the Magic Tower is not a ceremonial job. Zod's understanding of spellcraft is deep enough that Desir's future-born techniques genuinely interest him.

Key Relationships

• Desir Herrman: The academy student whose impossible tactics remind Zod of a war only Desir remembers. Their meetings feel like reunions to one of them and riddles to the other.
• Azest Kingscrown: The academy's finest student, the kind of talent Zod's generation watches as the future of magic, at least until Desir started rearranging that future.
