Takehisa Hinawa is Company 8's lieutenant, a second-generation pyrokinetic who controls the velocity of bullets, firing guns that can stun, shred or stop on a millimetre, and Obi's oldest comrade. Cold, precise and terrifyingly strict, he founded Company 8's soul alongside Obi after losing his own friend to combustion he could not prevent. He is the discipline that lets Company 8's chaos function as a team.
Appearance
Hinawa is a tall, severe man of 180 cm with short dark hair, narrow glasses and an expression that suggests he is permanently disappointed in advance. He wears Company 8's uniform with military exactness and is almost never seen without a firearm. Even at rest he looks like an inspection about to happen.

Hinawa is cold, precise and terrifyingly strict, and quietly one of the most caring men in the brigade. He shows love through preparation: the right weapon, the right order, the right exit. He founded Company 8's soul alongside Obi after losing his friend Tojo to combustion he could not prevent, and that grief is the steel in him. His rare dry jokes and rarer smiles are treasured by his soldiers precisely because he hands out neither freely.

Hinawa served as a soldier in the Tokyo military, where his second-generation ability, controlling ballistic velocity, made him a marksman without equal. During that service he watched his friend succumb to spontaneous combustion and was forced to end his suffering himself, an experience that defined his life. He left the military and, with his old comrade Akitaru Obi, helped build Special Fire Force Company 8 from nothing: a brigade that would investigate the combustion phenomenon honestly and protect people properly. As its lieutenant he runs Company 8's operations with a quartermaster's brain and a sniper's patience.
