Suirei

About Suirei

Suirei is a cool, distant court lady whose composure hides a dangerous secret: knowledge of a drug said to resurrect the dead. Her path crosses Maomao's investigations more than once, and every meeting leaves more questions than answers. Moving quietly between the outer court and old conspiracies, Suirei is one of the threads connecting the palace's present mysteries to the Shi clan's long game.

Appearance

Suirei is a tall, willowy woman with long dark hair and a pale, unreadable face. She dresses with severe neatness in the outer palace and moves quietly, drawing no attention, the perfect camouflage for someone carrying dangerous knowledge. Her rare smiles never quite reach her eyes.

Personality

Suirei is controlled to the point of coldness. She speaks little, reveals nothing, and treats every conversation as a negotiation. What drives her lies buried in the old Shi clan's history, and she pursues it with a patience that Maomao, who recognises a fellow keeper of secrets, finds both impressive and alarming.

Background & Story

Suirei serves in the outer palace, where her path crosses Maomao's investigations more than once. She is connected to the Shi clan, an old family with a long memory and longer plans, and she knows the secret of a forbidden drug said to bring the dead back to life. Each meeting between Suirei and Maomao is a duel of two careful minds, and every answer Suirei gives raises a larger question about what the Shi clan intends.

Key Relationships

• Maomao: A rival of the mind, the two women circle each other across several investigations, each recognising how dangerous the other is.
• Shisui: Both women are threads in the Shi clan's long game inside the palace, though they work its plan from very different places.
• Jinshi: The rear palace's administrator, whose investigations keep crossing the same Shi clan threads Suirei is tied to.
