Serie

About Serie

Serie is an elf great mage who has lived since the mythical age and leads the Continental Magic Association. She remembers every mage she has ever met and judges talent with frightening accuracy in a single glance. As the final examiner of the first-class mage exam, her whims decide who rises, and she has disliked Frieren for a thousand years.

Appearance

Serie looks like a small elven girl with long, wavy golden hair and sharp golden eyes, usually half-lidded with disinterest. She dresses in loose, ornate white robes and drapes herself over furniture like a bored cat. Nothing about her suggests age or authority, until she appraises a mage with one glance and pronounces their life's work worthless. Her presence fills a room in a way her size should not allow: this is a being who has been great since before human history began.

Personality

Serie is arrogant, blunt and almost impossible to impress, a living archive of magic who finds most modern mages disappointing. She pretends her decisions are whims, but her instincts about people are nearly always right, and her cruelty usually hides a test. She collects promising mages the way Frieren collects spells, and her rare approval is worth more than any certificate her association issues.

Background & Story

Serie is an elf great mage who has lived since the mythical age, when magic was young. A thousand years ago she knew Flamme; for centuries since, she has gathered knowledge and mages the way others gather books. She founded and leads the Continental Magic Association, which certifies the world's mages, and she personally conducts the final interview of the first-class mage exam, deciding by instinct and whim who is worthy. Serie remembers every mage she has ever met, and her judgement of talent is frighteningly accurate. She and Frieren have disliked each other for a thousand years, which, between elves, is practically a friendship.

Powers & Abilities

• Immense Spell Knowledge: Serie knows virtually every spell humanity has recorded, and her mana and experience dwarf any living mage's.
• Appraisal Instinct: Serie can judge a mage's talent, character and ceiling at a glance, her assessments are never wrong.

Key Relationships

• Frieren: A thousand-year acquaintance and mutual irritation; Serie disapproves of Frieren's sentimentality and never stops testing her.
• Flamme: The legendary human mage Serie knew in her own era, one of the few humans Serie ever took seriously.
• Methode: One of the first-class mages certified under Serie's association.
