Ram

About Ram

Ram is Rem's pink-haired older twin, the Roswaal mansion's senior maid in attitude if not in workload. Once a prodigy of the demon clan, she lost her horn and most of her power, and now runs on mana from Roswaal and pure sharpness of tongue. Her love for her sister quietly governs almost everything she does.

Appearance

Ram is a petite young woman with pink hair worn in a bob with a flower hairpin, red eyes and the mansion's black and white maid uniform. She looks almost identical to her twin Rem apart from hair and eye colour, and the absence of her demon horn, lost in childhood, which she never discusses. Her default expression is unimpressed; her default posture suggests she is doing you a favour by noticing you.

Personality

Ram is sharp-tongued, proud and devastatingly blunt, especially to Subaru, whom she addresses with creative disrespect. Beneath the insults sits a strict hierarchy of devotion: Rem first, Roswaal close behind, and the mansion's work a distant third, Ram famously does as little housework as she can get away with. Losing her horn and her prodigy's power left her dependent on Roswaal's mana, and she repays that debt with a loyalty that asks no questions.

Background & Story

Ram and Rem were born to the demon (oni) clan, where Ram was a once-in-generations prodigy whose single horn held immense power. When the Witch Cult attacked their village, Ram's horn was cut off protecting her sister, and the twins were taken in by Roswaal, in whose mansion they grew up as maids. Stripped of most of her power, Ram survives on mana supplied by Roswaal and on pure attitude, running the household beside her sister and watching Subaru with permanent suspicion.

Powers & Abilities

• Wind magic: Even without her horn, Ram is a capable wind magic user, cutting enemies with blades of air.
• Clairvoyance (Synesthesia): Ram can share senses with her twin Rem, seeing through her sister's eyes across distance.
• Demon strength (diminished): As an oni she retains strength beyond a human's, though a fraction of what her horn once gave her.

Key Relationships

• Rem (Re:Zero): Her younger twin sister, the centre of Ram's world, for whom she gave up her horn and her power.
• Roswaal L Mathers: Her master, who took the twins in and supplies the mana that keeps her alive; her loyalty to him is absolute.
• Subaru Natsuki: The mansion's most useless servant, in her assessment, though she slowly, grudgingly, revises it.
• Emilia: Her employer's candidate, whom Ram serves with formal correctness and occasional surprising honesty.
