Julius Juukulius

About Julius Juukulius

Julius is Anastasia's knight, famed as the kingdom's 'finest of knights', a spirit arts user whose six quasi-spirits make him a one-man army. He begins as Subaru's humiliating enemy and becomes one of his most trusted allies, which makes Gluttony's theft of his very name one of the cruelest blows in the Priestella battle.

Appearance

Julius is a handsome young knight with wavy purple hair and sharp eyes, immaculate in his Royal Guard uniform with a rapier-like sword at his side and six small quasi-spirits orbiting him like coloured lights. Everything about him is polished, posture, speech, honour, which is exactly why his first clash with the graceless Subaru is so ugly, and why his later growth shows so clearly.

Personality

Julius is honourable, disciplined and genuinely devoted to the ideal of knighthood, which at first makes him rigid and blind to his own cruelty when protocol is offended. His public humiliation of Subaru was, in his mind, protecting both Subaru and Emilia's honour; understanding how it looked from below is his education. Once learned, it sticks: Julius becomes one of Subaru's most reliable allies, a knight whose courtesy is backed by real reflection and real strength.

Background & Story

Julius is a member of House Juukulius and a Royal Guard knight contracted with six quasi-spirits, earning the title 'Finest of Knights' for his mastery of spirit arts. Assigned as Anastasia Hoshin's knight in the royal selection, he clashed with Subaru at the capital, a duel that left Subaru beaten and their camps estranged. Working alongside Subaru against the Witch Cult changed both men, and by the battle of Priestella Julius stands among the Emilia camp's most trusted swords, which is what makes the Witch Cult's theft of his very name so cruel.

Powers & Abilities

• Spirit arts with six quasi-spirits: Julius fights alongside six contracted quasi-spirits, combining their elements with his sword in techniques few knights can match.
• Rainbow swordplay: His spirit-enhanced sword techniques, including the clarion blades of light, make him one of Lugunica's strongest knights.
• Knightly command: As a senior Royal Guard he leads knights in the field, including the Priestella defences.

Key Relationships

• Anastasia Hoshin: His lady in the royal selection; her pragmatism and his honour make an effective, affectionate partnership.
• Subaru Natsuki: Once his beaten enemy, later one of his closest allies, Subaru is the person who most fights to remember Julius when the world forgets.
• Reinhard van Astrea: His friend and fellow knight, the Sword Saint, whose shadow every Lugunican knight lives in.
