Krillin

About Krillin

Krillin is Goku's oldest friend, a brave human monk who has fought beside Saiyans and gods despite having no chance of matching their power. He has died more than once and still shows up, now working as a police officer and raising a daughter with Android 18. His courage is the ordinary kind, which is exactly why the strongest people in the universe trust him.

Appearance

Krillin is a short, bald man, he shaves his head as a monk's discipline, though he grows black hair out in peacetime, with six incense-burn dots on his forehead and no visible nose, a running joke of the series. He wears the orange Turtle School gi in battle and a police uniform at work. Everything about him reads ordinary beside his friends, which is precisely his significance: the most human person in every room of gods.

Personality

Krillin's courage is the ordinary kind, that is the whole point of him. He has died more than once, knows exactly how outmatched he is, and shows up anyway, every time, usually with the cleverest plan in the fight. He is funny, practical, a little vain about his family and completely without the Saiyans' death-wish joy in battle; Krillin fights for people, not for fighting. His reward is the series' happiest ordinary life, a wife he adores, a daughter, a job, and his friends, the strongest beings alive, trust the little monk with their backs without a second thought.

Background & Story

Krillin arrived at Roshi's island as a sneaky, ambitious boy monk competing with Goku for training, and grew into Goku's brother in all but blood through tournaments, wars and deaths. He died at Tambourine's hands, died again on Namek at Frieza's, the death that made Goku a Super Saiyan, and kept coming back to stand in the same line. Peace gave him Android 18, of all people, and their daughter Marron; in Super he works as a police officer, lets his skills rust, and then, when the Tournament of Power demands ten fighters, digs out the monk's courage one more time and earns his place among gods on technique and nerve alone.

Powers & Abilities

• Destructo Disc (Kienzan): Krillin's signature: a razor-edged disc of ki that cuts through enemies far stronger than him, one of the most feared techniques in the series, whoever you are.
• Solar Flare: The blinding flash technique Krillin uses masterfully, his equaliser against stronger opponents throughout the saga.
• Kamehameha and ki control: A Turtle School master's complete toolkit: beams, barrages and the finest energy control of any human fighter.
• Battle craft: Krillin's real weapon in Super is experience, feints, teamwork, ring-out tactics and reading opponents, refined over a lifetime of punching up.

Key Relationships

• Son Goku: His best friend since they were boys under Roshi, Krillin has followed Goku into every war for forty years.
• Android 18: His wife, once his enemy, the android who chose the kind human over the whole world's expectations.
• Marron: His daughter, the centre of his ordinary, hard-won happiness.
• Son Gohan: His comrade since Gohan was four, Krillin is the closest thing the boy had to an uncle in the wars.
• Master Roshi: His teacher, whose Turtle School creed Krillin embodies most faithfully of all its students.
