Kohaku

About Kohaku

Kohaku is Ishigami Village's fiercest warrior, a girl with superhuman eyesight, speed and strength who patrols the forest where she finds Senku, and mistakes his science, at first, for sorcery worth fighting beside. Fiercely protective of her sickly sister Ruri, she has carried hot-spring water over mountains daily for years to keep her alive. Senku calls her a lioness; the village calls her its shield.

Appearance

Kohaku is an athletic 160 cm with wild blonde hair tied up, bright blue eyes and the tanned, ready look of someone who lives outdoors. She wears the village's simple clothes with a rope belt, carries two short blades and a shield, and moves like a sprinter even when standing still, Senku calls her a lioness, and her whole bearing earns it. Her eyesight is famous in the story: she can pick out details at distances nobody else can see anything at all.

Personality

Kohaku is direct, brave and all heart. She has spent years carrying heavy pots of hot-spring water over the mountains every day in the hope it helps her sister Ruri's illness, a devotion so routine she does not think of it as remarkable. She judges people fast and honestly, fights first and asks questions when it is safe, and her loyalty, once given, is total. With Senku she finds something new: a world where her strength protects not just her village but the future itself. Kohaku's warmth and bluntness make her the bridge between the old village and the new Kingdom.

Background & Story

Kohaku was raised in Ishigami Village, a settlement descended from the original astronauts, where she became its top warrior and its priestess Ruri's devoted younger sister. Out on patrol she found a strange boy, Senku, trapped under a fallen tree, and his bizarre 'sorcery' (a pulley, then medicine, then miracles of glass and light) convinced her this outsider could save Ruri. She brought him to a village that forbids outsiders, gambling her standing on him. As the Kingdom of Science forms, Kohaku becomes its foremost fighter and scout: her speed, eyes and blades guard the scientists while they work, and her trust in Senku carries the village with her.

Powers & Abilities

• Superhuman Eyesight: Kohaku's vision is extraordinary, she can spot and identify things at distances far beyond normal human sight, making her the Kingdom's best scout.
• Speed and Combat Skill: Trained as the village's top warrior, her speed, strength and twin-blade fighting let her battle the stone world's strongest fighters.
• Endurance: Years of carrying hot-spring water over mountains daily have given her stamina that even trained fighters respect.

Key Relationships

• Ruri: Her older sister, the priestess, Kohaku's years of hauling spring water and her whole fighting life are devoted to keeping Ruri alive.
• Senku Ishigami: The outsider she gambled on, she is his first ally in the village and the Kingdom's foremost warrior at his side.
• Chrome: Her childhood friend, whose obvious feelings she cheerfully ignores while trusting him completely.
• Kinro: A fellow village fighter, the two guard the village together, his discipline balancing her fire.
