Isabella
Isabella is the antagonist of The Promised Neverland's Grace Field story, the beloved 'Mom' who runs the orphanage. Warm and musical on the surface, she raises happy, healthy children knowing exactly what the house is for. She is voiced by Yuko Kaida in Japanese and Laura Post in English.
About Isabella
Isabella is the beloved 'Mom' of Grace Field House, warm, musical and devoted, and the smiling face of its horror. She raises the children with genuine care precisely because cared-for children fetch the highest price as demon food. Brilliant and utterly controlled, she turns the escape attempt into a chess match against the three children she knows best.
Appearance
Isabella is a tall, graceful woman with dark hair drawn back neatly and calm violet eyes. She wears a dark dress with a white apron, in the style of a house mother, and carries herself with perfect composure. Her smile is warm and practised; very little in her face changes even when she is threatening someone, which is what makes her frightening.
Personality
Isabella is intelligent, controlled and genuinely affectionate, and completely ruthless within the role the farm system gave her. She loves the children she raises and still sends them to their fate, a contradiction she has made peace with long ago. She rarely raises her voice, prefers hints to orders, and treats the escape attempt as a contest she respects even while she works to end it.
Background & Story
Isabella runs Plant 3 of Grace Field House, one of the premium farms that supply demons with high-quality human children. Her job is to raise them happy, well-fed and well-tested until their shipment day, and she is exceptionally good at it, her children take top scores and love her without reservation. When signs appear that Emma and Norman have learned the truth, Isabella responds the way she responds to everything: calmly, precisely and a step ahead, bringing in Sister Krone as an extra pair of eyes. Her contest with the three oldest children is the heart of the first season, a mother who knows their habits, strengths and tells, facing children she herself taught how to think.
