Gabi Braun

About Gabi Braun

Gabi Braun is a young Warrior candidate in Marley, raised to believe the people of Paradis are devils and desperate to prove herself worthy of inheriting a Titan. Loud, proud and fiercely talented, she fights with total confidence in the cause she was taught since childhood. Meeting the supposed enemy face to face forces Gabi to question everything, making her journey deeply powerful.

Appearance

Gabi is a small twelve-year-old girl at 138 cm, with messy dark brown hair tied back, large brown eyes and an intense, expressive face that cycles rapidly between pride, fury and glee. She wears the uniform of Marley's Warrior candidates, with the armband that marks her as an Eldian in the internment zone. In battle she moves with a trained soldier's confidence that looks startling on a child, which is precisely the point of everything Marley has made of her.

Personality

Gabi is loud, proud and ferociously driven, the star candidate of her generation and entirely convinced of the cause she was raised in: that the islanders of Paradis are devils and she is one of the 'good Eldians' who must prove it. She is brave to the point of recklessness, competitive with her fellow candidates and hungry for glory. Her certainty is her armour, and her wound. Meeting the supposed devils face to face, and seeing her own hatred reflected back, forces the questions no one in Marley ever let her ask.

Background & Story

Gabi was born in Liberio, Marley's internment zone for Eldians, where children grow up wearing armbands and learning that their blood is a sin to atone for. Her cousin Reiner returned a celebrated Warrior, and Gabi set her heart on inheriting his Armored Titan, training harder than every other candidate and excelling in real combat during Marley's war. She believes completely in the story she was told about Paradis. Then the war comes home: the Survey Corps strikes Liberio itself, Gabi sees her friends killed by the 'devils', and she fights her way aboard their airship to take revenge, landing her alone among the very people she has been taught to hate.

Powers & Abilities

• Elite Candidate Training: Gabi is the top-ranked Warrior candidate of her class, trained in firearms, explosives and battlefield tactics from childhood.
• Anti-Titan Rifle Skill: Gabi can operate heavy anti-Titan weaponry and scores kills against soldiers and Titans far beyond what her age suggests.
• Improvised Combat: Bold and quick-thinking, Gabi has destroyed armoured trains with improvised explosives and talked her way out of captivity.

Key Relationships

• Reiner Braun: Her older cousin and idol, the Warrior whose Titan Gabi dreams of inheriting, and whose suffering she does not yet understand.
• Sasha Blouse: The Paradis soldier whose death at Gabi's hands, and whose family's unexpected kindness afterward, cracks Gabi's worldview open.
• Eren Yeager: The enemy whose attack on Liberio kills Gabi's friends in front of her and becomes the focus of her revenge.
