Annie Leonhart

About Annie Leonhart

Annie Leonhart is a quiet, distant graduate of the 104th cadet corps who keeps everyone at arm's length. Small but lethally skilled, she is one of the best hand-to-hand fighters in her class, trained since childhood for a mission she never chose herself. Annie hides her feelings behind sarcasm and indifference, yet small kindnesses slip through, hinting at the real person underneath the soldier's mask.

Appearance

Annie is small and slight at 153 cm, with blonde hair usually tied in a loose, messy bun, icy blue eyes and a sharp, unsmiling face. She often wears a hoodie under or over her uniform, hands in pockets, posture closed off from everyone around her. In combat her whole bearing changes: her stance comes from martial arts, low and precise, built around kicks and joint locks. The contrast between the sleepy, sarcastic cadet and the fighter is one of her defining features.

Personality

Annie keeps the world at arm's length with sarcasm and indifference, openly mocking ideals like Eren's devotion to the cause. She respects competence and quietly helps those she judges sincere, she teaches Eren to fight, and her rare smiles appear around the few people who treat her as a person. Inside, Annie is exhausted by a life chosen for her before she could speak, driven by one private wish: to go home to the father who raised her as a weapon and, in the end, begged her to come back alive.

Background & Story

Annie was adopted as an infant in Marley and raised by a martial arts instructor who trained her relentlessly as his path to citizenship through the Warrior programme, which selects Eldian children for missions against Paradis. Chosen, she was sent across the sea as a child soldier with a role to perform inside the walls. She graduated fourth in the 104th Cadet Corps while keeping every cadet at a distance, then alone among her group chose the Military Police, the posting furthest from the front. What Annie wants is simple and impossible: to finish her mission, survive, and return to the man waiting for her, in a world that made a weapon of a little girl.

Powers & Abilities

• Martial Arts Mastery: Annie's fighting style, built on kicks, sweeps and joint locks, is the best hand-to-hand technique in her class, she can floor Eren and Reiner with ease.
• Warrior Training: Raised and selected through Marley's Warrior programme, Annie has combat and infiltration training far beyond a normal cadet's.
• Composure Under Pressure: Annie's cold control lets her fight, lie and improvise in situations that break other soldiers, a skill drilled into her since childhood.

Key Relationships

• Eren Yeager: A cadet she respects and personally trains in hand-to-hand combat, recognising a sincerity she cannot afford herself.
• Reiner Braun: A fellow Warrior whose crumbling mental state Annie observes with a mix of pity and contempt.
• Bertolt Hoover: A fellow Warrior and the quietest of their group, bound to Annie by their shared secret mission.
• Armin Arlert: A comrade whose perceptiveness Annie underestimates at her peril, he notices details about her that no one else does.
