Appearance
Yukine looks like a slight 14-year-old boy with blond hair and amber eyes, usually in a green jacket and beanie in cold weather. As a shinki he becomes a bare katana with a wrapped hilt, and later, a pair of blades, with his name, given by Yato, marking his form.
Personality
Yukine is prickly, jealous and painfully aware of everything death took from him, school, family, a future. His sins sting the god he serves, literally, which forces him to face what he is doing. Under the resentment he is a good kid: capable of gratitude, courage and finally devotion, once someone survives his worst and stays.
Background & Story
Yukine died young and lingered as a spirit until Yato found him and gave him a name, making him a shinki, a god's weapon and servant. Being a dead teenager serving a broke, embarrassing god infuriates him: he can watch living students live his stolen life but never join it. His stealing and resentment blight Yato's body, and Yukine must be confronted, punished and forgiven in one of the series' most important early arcs. What grows from that crisis, a Yukine who studies, works and chooses loyalty, becomes the emotional measure of Yato's household.
