Sasaran

About Sasaran

Sasaran is the mysterious keeper of a travelling magic shop, a hooded witch whose face is hidden behind a tall, eye-marked cowl. Sasaran appears where witches gather and speaks in riddles, selling tools and materials to those who know how to ask. Like much in the witch world, Sasaran seems to know far more about Coco than a shopkeeper should.

Appearance

Sasaran's face is never seen: a tall, pointed cowl marked with an eye hides it completely, over layered travelling robes suited to a merchant who is never in one place for long. Surrounded by the wares of the travelling shop, inks, pens, curiosities, Sasaran looks like part of the merchandise: old, strange and possibly priceless.

Personality

Sasaran speaks in riddles and sells to those who know how to ask, treating every transaction like a test the customer may not know they are taking. There is amusement in Sasaran's manner, and a sense of deep, withheld knowledge, the shopkeeper notices Coco, and what that noticing means is left, characteristically, unsaid.

Background & Story

Little is known of Sasaran beyond the travelling magic shop, which appears where witches gather and stocks tools and materials of the trade. Merchants hear everything, and Sasaran hears more than most: when Coco crosses the shop's path, it is clear the hooded keeper already knows who she is. In the witch world, where information is the real currency, Sasaran is one of its quiet bankers.

Key Relationships

• Coco: A young customer Sasaran seems to know far too much about, and tests, in the shopkeeper's riddling way.
• Qifrey: A fellow witch of the world Sasaran trades in; the shop serves ateliers like his.
