Eugeo

About Eugeo

Eugeo is a woodcutter of Rulid Village, assigned at birth to chop a demon tree for life, and Kirito's best friend in Underworld. Gentle, earnest and brave, he leaves his village to rescue Alice, trains as a swordsman in the capital, and chooses at every step to protect people rather than obey the rules that failed her. His Blue Rose Sword and his bond with Kirito carry the entire Alicization arc.

Appearance

Eugeo is a young man with flaxen-blond hair, green eyes and an open, earnest face, usually dressed in the blue tunic of a Rulid woodcutter and later the uniform of a trainee swordsman at the North Centoria academy. On his back he carries the Blue Rose Sword, a beautiful blade of pale blue-white ice-like crystal with a rose worked into its design. Everything about him looks gentle (village clothes, soft colours, kind eyes) which makes his speed and resolve in a duel consistently surprising to opponents who judge by appearance.

Personality

Eugeo is gentle, earnest and brave in the quiet way: he apologises easily, works hard without complaint and measures himself against the people he admires. His Calling was meant to be a life sentence of pointless labour, and he accepted it without bitterness. That patience becomes strength when he finally has something worth fighting for. He is bound by Underworld's rules in a way Kirito is not, which makes his choices harder: every act of rebellion costs him more. His loyalty to Alice and Kirito is total, and his kindness to strangers (servants, juniors, even enemies) defines him as much as his sword.

Background & Story

Eugeo was born in Rulid Village in Underworld, where every child receives a Calling, a lifelong sacred duty. His was to cut the Gigas Cedar, a demon tree no axe could fell, a task designed to take a lifetime. His childhood was shaped by two friends, Kirito and Alice, and by the day Alice was taken away by an Integrity Knight for breaking the Taboo Index. When Kirito reappears in his life years later, Eugeo finally gains a way forward: the two free Alice's rescue becomes their shared mission, and Eugeo leaves the village as a swordsman, training at the academy in Centoria and climbing toward the Cathedral where Alice is held.

Powers & Abilities

• Blue Rose Sword: A divine-object sword of blue ice-crystal, strong enough to wound the Gigas Cedar and duel Integrity Knights in the Cathedral.
• Enhance Armament, Ice Roses: Eugeo's Enhance Armament blooms freezing blue roses across the ground, trapping and draining the strength of whatever they touch.
• Aincrad-Style Sword Skills: Taught by Kirito, Eugeo fights in the Aincrad style (Underworld's lost sword techniques, including skills like Vorpal Strike) blending them with a swordsman's formal training.

Key Relationships

• Kirito: His childhood friend and sword teacher, the bond between them is the heart of the Alicization arc, each pushing the other toward the Cathedral.
• Alice Zuberg: The childhood friend whose rescue is Eugeo's whole reason for climbing. He has carried her memory since the day the Church took her.
• Tiese Shtolienen: His junior at the sword academy, where Eugeo mentors her, defending her honour costs him dearly and shows exactly what kind of swordsman he is.
