Anaak Jahad

About Anaak Jahad

Anaak is a lizard-like climber carrying the Green April and her mother's name, hunting the Jahad Princesses who killed her mother, a princess who broke the rules for love. Small, blunt and ferociously strong, she treats the climb as a revenge list. Her borrowed name makes her a target of the very empire she is hunting.

Appearance

Anaak is a small, fierce girl with green skin, a long lizard-like tail, short dark-green hair and sharp yellow eyes that give her a permanently unimpressed look. She dresses in plain, practical climbing clothes and carries the Green April, a long, whip-like 13 Month weapon that extends and strikes like a living vine. Everything about her is compact and coiled: she looks like a minor obstacle until she moves, at which point she is one of the most physically dangerous Regulars on the floor. Her mother's stolen name is written in every line of her posture.

Personality

Anaak is blunt, proud and ferociously self-reliant. She speaks in short sentences, trusts almost no one and treats the climb as a list of names to cross off. Her strength is real, she is one of the strongest Regulars of her group, but so is the child underneath it, who lost her mother to an empire's housekeeping and built a personality out of the wreckage. She is not incapable of loyalty; she is incapable of admitting it. The team she falls in with keeps accidentally giving her reasons to stay that have nothing to do with revenge.

Background & Story

Anaak's mother was a Princess of Jahad who broke the princesses' strictest rule: she fell in love, left, and had a child. The empire's answer was execution, carried out by other princesses. The daughter survived, took her mother's name and her mother's weapon, the Green April, and entered the Tower with one purpose: climb, grow strong, and kill the Princesses of Jahad one by one. On the second floor she finds herself in the same test group as Endorsi, a genuine princess, a target wearing the face of a teammate, which complicates a revenge Anaak has organised her entire life around.

Powers & Abilities

• Green April: One of the 13 Month Series weapons, the Green April extends, whips and strikes at Anaak's will, its ignition multiplies its reach and power enormously.
• Lizard Strength: Anaak's mixed heritage gives her strength, speed and durability far beyond a normal Regular's, letting her brawl with princesses and monsters directly.

Key Relationships

• Endorsi Jahad: A true Princess of Jahad and therefore Anaak's sworn target, who keeps ending up her teammate instead, to both girls' irritation.
• Shibisu: The scout who adopts her into his team and treats her like a person rather than a weapon, one of the few kindnesses Anaak tolerates.
• Twenty-Fifth Bam: A teammate from the second floor's tests, Bam's refusal to treat her as a weapon or a name on a list is new to her, and she files it under things to repay.
