Roman Carax
Roman Carax is a main character of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, a young cinephile and documentary journalist in a city that gave up on film for braindance. He follows Night City's edgerunners with a real camera, hunting true stories. He is voiced by Momoka Terasawa in Japanese and Valeria Rodriguez in English.
About Roman Carax
Roman Carax is a young cinephile in a city that gave up on film. Where Night City consumes braindance, recorded feelings, lived second-hand, Roman still carries a camera and hunts for real stories. Following Night City's edgerunners with his lens, he learns that true stories do not end when the reel runs out, and that watching other people's lives is its own kind of danger.
Appearance
Roman is a young man rarely seen without his camera, where Night City records experience through implants and braindance rigs, he carries physical film gear like a relic from another century. His clothes are a working journalist's: practical, unglamorous, chosen for pockets and pavement rather than neon fashion.
Personality
Roman is earnest, curious and stubbornly romantic about the truth. In a city that consumes recorded feelings second-hand, he insists real stories, filmed honestly, still matter. That conviction makes him brave in the specific way journalists are brave: he keeps filming. Following edgerunners teaches him the cost of the lens, that watching other people's lives is its own kind of danger, and some stories do not end when the reel runs out.
Background & Story
Roman Carax grew up in love with cinema in a Night City that had largely abandoned it for braindance, recorded lives, edited and sold by parlours like Sal Bigelow's. He took his camera to the street instead, documenting the edgerunners who live the city's real stories. His lens leads him to a washed-up legend, a vengeful netrunner and a Maelstrom fighter tangled in an Arasaka secret, the truest story he has ever found, and the most dangerous one to be standing behind a camera for.
Key Relationships

- D: The Snake Nation netrunner whose revenge hunt gives Roman's film its darkest thread.
- Talia Yang: The corpo-born Maelstrom fighter whose two worlds collide on Roman's camera.
- Sal Bigelow: The braindance parlour owner whose world of manufactured experience is everything Roman's real film-making stands against.
