Mitsueda

About Mitsueda

Mitsueda is a figure from the underworld side of Shinpei Goto's life, part of the world of hired killers that Satoko has been dragged into by her bargain. Voiced by Kenjirō Tsuda, he carries the calm menace of a man who treats murder as business. Through people like Mitsueda, Firefly Wedding keeps reminding its heroine, and the audience, that the assassin she married has a past that will not simply let him go.

Appearance

Mitsueda carries himself with the calm of a senior man in a violent trade. Nothing about him needs to shout. Men like him dress well, speak softly, and let their reputation walk into the room ahead of them.

Personality

Mitsueda is calm and businesslike about killing, which makes him unnerving in a completely different way from Shinpei. Shinpei is a storm. Mitsueda is a ledger. He belongs to the professional machinery of Tennyo's underworld, the people who arrange jobs, pay for them, and come to collect when an assassin decides he would rather be a husband.

Background & Story

Mitsueda moves in the world Shinpei Goto comes from, the hired-killer economy around Tennyo Island where assassination is arranged like any other trade. Satoko Kirigaya only glimpsed that world when it came to kill her. Through men like Mitsueda, it keeps reaching back into her new life, because an assassin of Shinpei's value does not simply retire on a marriage vow, whatever Shinpei himself believes.
