Chifuyu Matsuno

About Chifuyu Matsuno

Chifuyu Matsuno is the First Division Vice-Captain of the Tokyo Manji Gang and Takemichi's partner, the friend who believed in him before anyone else did. Loyal to Baji's memory and clear-eyed about gang life, Chifuyu is the strategist at Takemichi's side, the one person in the past he could tell the truth about time leaping. In the Three Titans era, that partnership is tested by a war bigger than anything Toman ever faced.

Appearance

Chifuyu is a lean teenager of 168 cm with light blue eyes, an earring in his left ear and blond hair worn with a dark undercut in his Toman days. He has a calm, cool look that makes him seem older than he is, the gang's most composed young member, right up until his loyalty gets him beaten half to death with a smile on his face.

Personality

Chifuyu is loyal, thoughtful and brave in a quiet, planned way. Where Takemichi charges in crying, Chifuyu thinks first, he is the strategist of the pair, the one who reads a room and a timeline. His devotion to Baji's memory defines his honour code, and his faith in Takemichi is total: he bets his life on a boy everyone else laughs at, more than once.

Background & Story

Chifuyu joined the Tokyo Manji Gang under Keisuke Baji, the First Division Captain he idolised, and rose to vice-captain at his side. After the events that cost the First Division its captain, Chifuyu transfers that loyalty to Takemichi, recognising in the weak, tearful new member the same refusal to abandon people that Baji lived by. He becomes Takemichi's partner and the only person in the past told the truth about the time leaps, helping him plan each attempt to fix the future. In the Three Titans era, that partnership faces a war bigger than anything Toman ever fought.

Powers & Abilities

• Fighting and Strategy (skill): Chifuyu is a capable fighter, but his real strength is tactical, he plans, gathers information and keeps Takemichi's missions workable.

Key Relationships

• Takemichi Hanagaki: His partner and captain, the person Chifuyu believes in absolutely, and the only one who knows he knows about the time leaps.
• Manjiro Sano: His leader; Chifuyu serves Mikey while quietly helping Takemichi steer Toman away from its dark futures.
• Takashi Mitsuya: A fellow officer of Toman and trusted ally, Chifuyu turns to Mitsuya when a plan needs the older captains' weight behind it.
