Akira Mado is a brilliant young investigator who graduates top of her class and partners with Amon. Cool, analytical and blunt, she is the daughter of Kureo Mado, and her father's death in the line of duty hardens her hatred of ghouls, especially the Rabbit who killed him. Working beside Haise Sasaki in :re forces her certainty into conflict with everything she observes at close range.

Appearance

Akira is a composed young woman with long light hair, usually tied back at work, and a cool, assessing expression. She dresses sharply in CCG professional wear and carries her quinque case with the ease of a top graduate. Next to the older generation of investigators she looks almost too young for her rank, until she starts talking, when the steel underneath the polish shows immediately.

Akira is precise, blunt and emotionally armoured. She expresses care through competence, research, preparation, home cooking delivered without ceremony, and she trusts data over sentiment in herself and others. Losing both parents to the war made her a true believer in the CCG's mission, but she is too intelligent to ignore evidence that contradicts it, which leaves her in slow, painful conflict between the institution that raised her and what she sees with her own eyes.

Akira graduated at the top of the CCG Academy, carrying the name of her father Kureo Mado, a brilliant, obsessive investigator killed in the line of duty, and her mother, also lost to ghouls. Assigned as Amon's new partner, she brings a colder, more analytical style to the partnership and a personal hatred focused on the ghoul known as Rabbit, who killed her father. Working at close quarters with cases that refuse to fit the CCG's simple story, and later mentoring Haise Sasaki's squad in :re, steadily complicates the certainty she was raised on.
