Nagisa Akutsu

About Nagisa Akutsu

Nagisa Akutsu is the A team's commanding senior defender, a physical giant whose presence defines Esperion's defensive standard. Intimidating on and off the pitch, he has no patience for first-years who think promotion means they have arrived. For Ashito, Akutsu is Season 2's wall made flesh: the level of strength, speed and concentration that top-level football demands on every single play.

Appearance

Akutsu is a big, imposing defender, tall, broad and hard-eyed, with a presence that changes the temperature of a training session when he walks into it. He plays centre-back the way he carries himself: front-foot, dominant in the air, first to every duel. Among the A team seniors he is the wall made visible, the physical standard of Premier League youth football standing in one player, and the first thing promoted first-years have to survive.

Personality

Akutsu is demanding, blunt and completely uninterested in making younger players comfortable. He was the only player a year above Ashito's group to pass the selection in his own year, and he treats the academy's standards as sacred, promotion is not arrival, it is the start of being measured against people like him. His harshness is not cruelty for its own sake; it is the academy's reality, delivered early. For Ashito in Season 2, Akutsu is the test made flesh: the level of strength, speed and concentration that top-level football demands on every single play, with no patience for excuses.

Background & Story

Akutsu established himself in Esperion's A team as its defensive leader, a senior whose physical level sets the bar for the whole academy. When Ashito's first-year group begins promoting players in Season 2, Akutsu becomes their gatekeeper in practice and in matches, the senior who tackles their assumptions along with the ball. His presence frames the season's central question for the promoted boys: not whether they deserved promotion, but whether they can survive, week after week, against defenders who are stronger, faster and more experienced than anyone they have faced. Beating Akutsu's standard, even once, is a rite of passage.

Powers & Abilities

• Dominant Centre-Back Play: Akutsu's size, strength and aerial power make him the A team's defensive anchor, duels and headers around him are usually decided early.
• Defensive Leadership: He organises the A team's back line with the authority of a senior who has set the academy's standard for years.

Key Relationships

• Ashito Aoi: The promoted first-year whose measure Akutsu takes personally, surviving Akutsu is Ashito's Season 2 examination.
• Haruhisa Kuribayashi: A fellow A team standard-bearer, the academy's creative ceiling and its defensive wall in the same squad.
