Shiba Inu Rooms Anime Announced for Summer 2027

One of the strangest and sweetest manga premises in years is coming to television. Shiba Inu Rooms, known in Japanese as Shibatsuki Bukken, will get a TV anime in Summer 2027, produced by TMS Entertainment. The announcement landed on 1 November 2026 with a teaser visual, a first teaser video and an official website.

What is Shiba Inu Rooms about?

High school student Kori Momose finds the perfect first apartment: brand new, with a modern kitchen and a separate bath and toilet, for just 4,800 yen a month. There is, of course, a catch. The room comes with Mu, the ghost of a Shiba Inu who is attached to the property and in no hurry to leave. What follows is a heartwarming supernatural comedy about a cool, practical girl and a stubborn ghost dog learning to live together.

The anime adapts Esu Omori's manga, which runs on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ service and began as a one-shot before becoming a full series in 2024. Volume 9 of the manga goes on sale in Japan on 4 November 2026, and English readers can find the series through VIZ Media and MANGA Plus.

Staff and cast announced so far

Director and studio

Osamu Yamasaki directs the series at TMS Entertainment, with character designs by Rio.

The two lead voices

Niina Nakabayashi stars as Kori Momose, and Mutsumi Tamura voices Mu, the ghost Shiba Inu at the heart of the story.

Why it was announced on 1 November

The timing is a joke only Japan could make. In Japanese, a dog's bark is "wan", and 1 November (11/1) is known as "Wan Wan Wan Day", a small celebration of dogs. Announcing a Shiba Inu anime on Wan Wan Wan Day is exactly the kind of playful touch this series is known for.

What is still unannounced

So far there is no exact premiere date beyond the Summer 2027 window, no episode count, and no international streaming partner. We will update this story when those details are confirmed.
