About Soichiro Yagami
Soichiro Yagami is Light's father and the upright chief of the Japanese police's Kira task force. A man of absolute honesty, he works directly under L while never suspecting the killer sits at his own dinner table. His sense of duty drives him to keep hunting Kira even as the case destroys his health, his career and the quiet family life he hoped to protect.
Appearance
Soichiro is a solid, dignified middle-aged man with black hair greying at the sides, a moustache and glasses, almost always in a dark suit. He looks exactly like what he is: a career police officer of the old school. As the Kira case grinds on, the strain shows in his face and health, but his posture and his principles never bend.
Personality
Soichiro is honourable to a fault, honest, brave and incapable of cutting corners even when the system begs him to. He resigns his rank rather than abandon the Kira case, risks his life on L's plans without hesitation, and refuses to the end to use the Death Note's power for himself. His one blind spot is the one thing he cannot imagine: that the son he is proud of could be Kira.
Background & Story
Soichiro Yagami is the chief of Japan's National Police Agency and the father of Light and Sayu. When the Kira killings begin, he takes command of the Japanese task force, and when most of his officers quit under Kira's threat, he stays with the handful who remain and accepts L's leadership. Working from hidden headquarters, he raids, arrests and risks everything alongside men half his age, the moral centre of the investigation, and the person with the most to lose from its answer.
